What Is a Private Blog Network?
A private blog network, or PBN, is a group of websites, often built on expired domains with existing authority, controlled by one owner purely to build links to a main “money site.”
Example
Someone might buy ten expired domains that once had real content and backlinks, publish thin articles on each, and link them all back to their primary business website to artificially inflate its authority.
Why it matters
PBNs directly violate search engine guidelines on manipulative link schemes, and getting caught can result in the entire network, including the money site, being penalized or deindexed. Search engines have invested heavily in detecting these patterns.
